Crop Circles in Norway 2003: 1 ice circle
The Norwegian Crop Circle Group does not intend to determine whether a particular formation is man-made or not. Our ambition is to collect as much information as possible about all aspects of the phenomenon. In cases where we should receive conclusive evidence that a circle is man-made, we will inform the readers. Undocumented claims that a circle is man-made, will be registered, but usually not published. The reason is
that we have experienced that many persons independently claim to have made the same formation.
The Norwegian Crop Circle Group aims to reduce the unserious attention around the phenomenon. We
therefore find it necessary to reverse the onus of proof, and demand that the alleged circle makers
present real evidence to accompany their claims, before we will present these claims at this web site.

NO CROP CIRCLE, BUT A FORMATION OF ICE
The circular and geometrically perfect pattern, about 12 metres long, is made by 2-3 cm high ice elements that are standing out like a relief on a field of fodder grass. There is no water (river or lake) in the vicinity of the pattern, which was covered by a very thin layer of snow when discovered. Neither the Norwegian Crop Circle Group nor the young friends, who discovered the formation (read their own account), have any explanation so far, to how this large and relatively complex pattern may have been produced. Other known ice circles have, as far as we know, occurred on the frozen surfaces of rivers and lakes, so this is no ordinary ice circle. We neither have any reason to believe that the pattern is a sort of remini-
scence of a former crop circle at the place. The circle might be unique of its kind.
The Norwegian Crop Circle Group will follow up the case during spring and summer, and any new information will eventually be posted. For more information on ICE CIRCLES, please have a look at "Related phenomena" to the left on this site, or click ice circles by the link Crop Circles in Canada Archives at the Canadian crop circle group CCCRN's web-site.
